  1. Archaeocytes, often called amebocytes are amoeboid cells found in sponges
  2. Sponges constitute the phylum Porifera.
  3. The cytoplasm of these cells contains large amounts of RNA.
  4. Amoebocytes' function includes regeneration and also transportation of food particles acquired at the choanocytes.
  5. They are also important in the asexual reproduction of sponges.
