Question

Solution

Given, CP =Rs. 14,400

Let the marked price(M.P) be Rs. x

Discount on marked price =12% of x=0.12x

Sale price (S.P)= M.P - Discount

=x0.12x=0.88x

Sale price according to C.P = C.P + profit

=14400+10% of C.P

=14400+0.10×14400

=14400+1440

=15840

on equating S.P from both the methods, we have

0.88x=15840

x=Rs. 18000

M.P =Rs. 18000

So, marked price will be Rs. 18000 for a profit of 10% after a discount of 12%.
