Question

What should I choose ______________.
a. For decreasing resistance in a circuit.
(Resistors in series / Resistors in parallel)
b. For getting protection from electric current.
(Nickel / Ebonite)
c. To measure the current in the circuit.
(Ammeter / Voltmeter)

Solution

a) For decreasing resistance in the circuit, one should use resistors in parallel as for parallel connection voltage remains constant. When resistances are connected in series, equivalent resistance is the sum of all the resistances which will increase the overall resistance in the circuit.
b) Ebonite is the poor conductor of electricity and Nickel is a good conductor of electricity.Hence for getting protection from electric current Ebonite is used.
c)To measure current in the circuit ammeter is used whereas voltmeter is used to measure voltage.
