Diffusion pressure deficit (DPD) is the deficit in osmotic pressure caused due to presence of solute molecules in the solution. More the number of solute particles greater will be the deficit. In the given two solutions, the sodium chloride molecule will split into two ions, one sodium ion and another chloride ion. The sugar molecule will not split. The number of particles in sodium chloride solution will be twice the number of particles in sugar solution. Consequently, the DPD of sodium chloride solution will be higher than DPD of sugar solution.
