FSH (Follicular stimulating hormone):
- The hormone produced by the pituitary glands is responsible for stimulating gonads and secondary reproductive characteristics in males and females.
- FSH stimulates follicular growth and ovulation in women.
- In men, FSH helps control the production of sperm.
- Hypothalamus stimulates the secretion of FSH.
- Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) is released by the hypothalamus.
- GnRH stimulates the synthesis and secretion of gonadotrophins that stimulate gonadal activities in both males and females.
- Symptoms of low FSH: infertility, pubic hair loss, headache, unable to produce milk for breastfeeding, night sweats, etc.
