Let the number be x.

As per question, (4+x):(7x)=2×5:3×4.
[ the compound ratio of the ratios 2:3 and 5:4=2×5:3×4 ] [1 Mark]

4+x7x=2×53×4
4+x7x=56
24+6x=355x.
˙6x+5x=3524 or, 11x=11
x=1111=1

Hence, the required number =1. [1 Mark]
