When the moon revolves around the earth it moves in it's orbit in a circular path that is why circular motion and in the same path and taking the same time to revolve that is why periodic.
To measure the intervals of a month, a month is divided into weeks and weeks are further divided into days. 24 hours forms a day. Hours are divided into minutes. 60 minutes is equal to one hour. Minute is further divided into seconds. 60 seconds is equal to one minute.
