The nervous system of all the animals is composed of neurons or nerve cells. The stimuli like touch, pain, heat, cold, sound, smell, light, taste, vibrations, etc. present in our surrounding are detected and received by these specialised cells called neurons. They transmit these stimuli in form of impulses to the brain which responds to them. Different animals possess different levels of nervous systems.
