What triggers inhibin?

Open in App
Solution

Inhibin:

  1. A hormone secreted by the granulosa cells of ovaries in women and Sertoli cells of seminiferous tubules inside testes in males
  2. This hormone suppresses the secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) by the anterior pituitary gland.

FSH triggers inhibin secretion:

  1. FSH stimulates the secretion of inhibin from the Gonadotrophin, in turn, inhibin suppresses FSH.
  2. FSH stimulates the growth and development of ovarian follicles in females, while in males it regulates spermatogenesis.
