Solution

Nematocyst:

  1. Cnidocysts, also known as nematocysts, are a common feature of all cnidarians.
  2. They are enormous organelles that are secreted by the Golgi apparatus within a specialised cell called a nematocyte or cnidocyte.
  3. These are mostly employed for prey acquisition and defence, but they can also be utilised to move around.
  4. Cnidocils are hair-like projections that act as nematocyst chemo- and mechano-receptors, causing the nematocyst to fire.
