Cilia are used for:

  1. Generally, unicellular organisms use their cilia for locomotion and movement while searching for nutrients for better growth and survival.
  2. Moves materials around the outside of the cell.
  3. Multicellular organisms like humans have cilia infundibulum which drives the sperm cells to facilitate the fertilization process.
  4. Cilia are present in the respiratory tract which keeps the airways clear of mucus.
