Question

What type of asexual reproduction is found in Spirogyra?

Open in App
Solution

Asexual reproduction in Spirogyra:

  1. Spirogyra is a type of filamentous green algae.
  2. It reproduces asexually by the method of fragmentation.
  3. In this method the parent Spirogyra after getting matured, splits up along their septum into tiny fragments.
  4. These tiny fragments disperse and divide into both sides of the fragment.
  5. When fragments grow and differentiate into a mature spirogyra this process repeats itself.
