  1. The conversion of pyruvate into lactic acid and two molecules of ATP catalyzed by the lactate dehydrogenase enzyme is called lactic acid fermentation.
  2. Lactobacillus is the most often used genus of eubacteria that undergo lactic acid fermentation.
  3. These bacteria help in the conversion of milk into yogurt or curd.
  4. Different examples of lactic acid fermenting bacteria are Escherichia coli, Streptococcus Thermophilus, Lactococci, and Leuconostoc, etc.
