Solution

The correct option is D

Physical and Irreversible Change

Physical change:- In a physical change no new substance is formed and the chemical composition of substance remains the same. There are changes in physical properties like shape, size, etc.

Irreversible change:- A change in which the original state of substance cannot be reattained is known as an irreversible change. These changes are fixed changes.

Sharpening a pencil does not produce any new substance and shavings that are produced after sharpening the pencil have the same chemical composition (physical change) but the shavings cannot be converted back to pencil (irreversible change).
