What type of proteins are made by free ribosomes?

Open in App
Solution

Ribosomes:

  1. These are positively charged RNA-protein complexes.
  2. These are found in all cells that synthesize proteins.
  3. These can be found either in a free state in the cytoplasm or attached to a membrane ( Endoplasmic reticulum).

Free Ribosomes:

  1. The free-ribosomes synthesize soluble cytoplasmic proteins, peripheral membrane proteins, mitochondrial proteins, chloroplast proteins, peroxisomal and nuclear proteins, etc.
  2. In short, free-ribosomes are responsible for the production of all the proteins that are found within the cell and are present in the cytosol.
