Solution

Combination Reaction

Two or more reactants tend to combine togther and give rise to a sinlge compound as a main product. Such reactions are called combination reaction.

In the given reaction, Magnesium reacts with Oxygen to form Magnesium oxide (MgO). This is classified as a combination reaction. This is because, in these types of reactions, two reactants (Magnesium and Oxygen) combine to form a single product (Magnesium oxide).

Example of combination reaction

2Ca(s)+O2(g)2CaO(s)CalciumOxygenCalciumoxide

In this reaction, Calcium combines with Oxygen in order to form Calcium oxide. Thus, the type of reaction is a combination reaction.
