Open in App
Solution

Cytochrome oxidase:

  1. Cytochrome oxidase is a family of proteins that act as the terminal enzymes of respiratory chains.
  2. The two classes of cytochrome oxidase are cytochrome c oxidases and quinol oxidases.

Aerobic respiration:

  1. When an organism produces and uses cytochrome oxidase then aerobic respiration occurs in them.
  2. Because aerobic respiration is a type of cellular respiration that takes place in three steps namely- glycolysis, Krebs cycle, and electron transport chain (ETC).
  3. The electron transport chain has four complexes out of which cytochrome oxidase ( complex- IV) is one.
  4. Cytochrome oxidase is one of the transmembrane proteins of ETC present in the inner mitochondrial membrane.
