Question

What volume of water should be added to 50 ml of HNO3 having density 1.5 g/ml and 63 percentage by weight to have one molar solution

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

The mass of HNO3 solution :
=density × volume = 1.5 × 50 = 75 g
Now as 63 % by weight HNO3 is present in 75 g of solution , so the mass of HNO3 will be :
=63100×75=47.25 g
Now number of mole of HNO3 :
=47.2563=0.75 mol
So, to make the 1 molar solution total of the water must present in the solution will be = 750 ml.
