In 1930 Mahatma Gandhi organized the Dandi March to start the salt satyagraha. At this time the tribals of seoni- under the leadership of Durga Shankar Mehta organized a march of 9-10 Km to cut grass from the government sandalwood garden to resister their anger against the British rule. This is known as the Jungle Satyagraha.
