Bandobast was kind of revenue minister.
Todar mal, Akbar’s revenue minister introduced the Bandobast system. It was called Zabti or Dahsala system. This was implemented under Akbar’s reign.

Two features of this system:

• The land was surveyed as well as measured.
• There were four categories in which the land was divided. For instance, Polaj was the category of the land which was cultivated every year and Parauti was another category of land that had to be left fallow for some time for its fertility to be reinstated.
