It was decided that the provinces of India would be reorganized on the basis of languages so that each state will have a majority of people who speak one language. This arrangement has strengthened federalism in India because it has made states homogoneous and easier to govern. Hence, state governments have become more effective and responsive in meeting the needs of the people.
