What was the effect of the First World War on the colonial possessions of industrialised countries?

The Central Powers possessed colonies before the great war and post war, they have lost them to the allied powers. Allied powers already had huge colonies and they possessed them as it is, and moreover they also gained colonies from Germany, many of them were occupied during the war itself and were divided among the entente , post war. Togoland, Kamerun(Now Cameroon),German South-West Africa(Now Namibia), German East Africa, German New Guinea, Western Samoa, Port of Qingdao was invaded by Japan. All of these colonies were distributed among The Allied Powers and Germany was left with no colonies.
