Question

What is the impulsive force?

Open in App
Solution

Impulsive Force:

  1. Impulsive force is a force that acts on a body for a short period of time. The impulse of a force is the product of the force and the time it operates on a body.
  2. Example of impulsive force: When you drop a ball from a specific height, it bounces back as soon as it strikes the ground. When the ball strikes the ground, the momentum it has built up abruptly vanishes. This change in momentum occurs in a relatively short period of time, resulting in the formation of an impulsive force.
  3. Formula: J=Ft where, J is the impulse in (Nsec), F is the impulsive force in (N), t is the time in (sec).

Hence, Impulsive force is a force that acts on a body for a short period of time.
