Instructions: We will start the answer by mentioning the need of the Manji System. Followed by the structure of the System and the use of the Manji System and its benefits.
Solution: During the time of Guru Amardas Ji’s period the number of Sikhs grew rapidly due to the increasing popularity of the Sikh religion. Therefore it was very difficult for Guruji to deliver sermons and teaching to different people located in different places in Punjab. Thus to fulfill the needs of the Sikhs, Guruji established the Manji System.
He divided the spiritual realm into twenty-two parts and named each part ‘Manji’. He appointed an influential Sikh to each of the Manjis. The duty of each Sikh was to preach sermons of Guru Shahib in his area. The gifts received from the devotees were carried forward to Guruji by the Manji. Since the delivery of sermons used to take place on a Cot or Manji, therefore this is called the Manji System. With the Manji System, the Sikh religion spread all over the country during Guru Amardas Ji‘s period.
