Solution
Out of all the trends in the evolution of modern man (Homo sapiens) from his ancestors, the most significant trend is the increase in cranial capacity. The cranial capacity is the volume of the interior of the cranium of vertebrates who possess a skull and a brain. It is used to approximate the size of the brain, which is also suggestive of the intelligence of the organism.
Shortening of the jaws, erect posture, binocular vision, loss of body hair, devlopment of opposable thumb etc., are some of the other trends observed in the evolution of humans. But the increase in cranial capacity had the highest impact on the evolution of modern man as it is beleived to be responsible for the intelligence of the species.
