Dear Student,
The objective of the International Military Tribunal (IMT) in Nuremberg was to bring the leading Nazi figures who survived the Second World War to justice. The Nazis had committed grave crimes in the territories occupied by Germany in the war. There was a determination in the allies that after victory, the Nazis had to be punished for their crimes. This was the purpose behind the IMT. It tried the leading Nazi figures for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
Regards.
