What was the reason for launching the scheme of 100% export oriented units.

The 100 per cent export oriented unit scheme was introduced as complementary to the EPZ scheme. EOU's have been established with a view to generating additional production capacity for exports by providing an appropriate policy framework, flexibility of operations and incentives.
