What was the reason for the entry of USA in the second world war

The world War II (1939 TO 1945) had begun when Germany attacked Poland. US came into the scene only when the Japanese attacked the American Fleet in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. This incident took place on 7th December 1941 and the very next day i.e 8th December 1941, United States declared war on the Axis powers.
