Ho Chi Minh was the leader of the Vietnamese struggle for independence. He led the Vietnamese independence movement from 1941 till his death in 1969. He established the Communist ruled North Vietnam and defeated the French imperialists in 1954 in the battle of Dien Bien Phu. This marked the end of French imperial rule in Vietnam. After that, he led the struggle in Vietnam against the United States.
