Dear student,
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was the first Deputy Prime Minister of India. He was also a senior leader of the Indian National Congress who played a leading and crucial role in the Independence of India and played a key role in unifying and giving shape to Princely states in India,
He brought all the 550 princely states under the Union of India which blocked splitting of the country into miniature nations.
Kasim Razvi, who was the final Nizam of Hyderabad was a disaster to Hindu community. He always supported Britishers and somehow became the richest man on Earth but the people of his empire wew the poorest. After Independence, when he had no support from the Britishers he was destabilized and got paranoid about his Kingdom. He made a Razakar army which consisted of Muslims. Seeing this Hindus made a Hindu Fauz, these two armies were creating a lot of chaos in the nation. Sardar Patel invited Kasim Razvi to work out on an achievable and reasonable solution. Razvi was ruthless and arrogant throughout the meeting. He wanted nothing less than an independent nation for Hyderabad.
In September 1948, Patel called a meeting with Indian Army and ordered them to march troops into Hyderabad and take control as a form of "police action". In 3 days Nizam resigned and accepted Indian Union. Razakars surrendered and Nizam's hyderabad became a part of India.
It was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who could strengthen India by uniting 500 princely states.
