The Old Regime in France was based on discrimination where injustice prevailed. The First and the Second Estates enjoyed all privileges whereas the Third Estates were deprived of all privileges and rights. The Third Estate was imposed with a heavy burden of taxation.Peasants were obliged to render services to the people of the First and the Second Estates. So to diminish inequality and injustice from the society and to establish a democratic rule where the monarch would not have absolute power, changes became evident in the Old Regime.
