Buddhism was a new religion founded by Gautama Buddha. It was a religion which was suitable for the agrarian society of 6th Century BC.
Buddhism made several contributions to Indian culture. The Sanghas which were the administrative council of Buddhism established along democratic lines to help spread Buddhism in various regions. The Sangas helped in spreading democratic values in society. Moreover, numerous caves, chaityas, viharas and pillars were built, which vastly contributed to the field of art and architecture.
Jainism was founded by Vardhamana Mahavira. It radicalised Indian society. It taught the people the importance of the right belief, right knowledge and right action. It contributed to Indian architecture by building stone pillars, caves, temples and statues.
