Solution

Each point: 1 Mark

1. The criteria of Mendeleev's periodic table was relative atomic mass(the weight in grams of the number of atoms of the element contained in 12.00 g of carbon-12.).
2. He organized the elements into horizontal rows (periods) and columns (groups) in order of their increasing relative atomic mass. There are eight groups and seven periods.
3. According to him the elements showing similar chemical properties belonged to the same group.
He left some gaps for some undiscovered elements.
Mendeleev proposed that the chemical properties of the elements are periodic functions of their atomic masses, so he arranged the elements according to the increasing order of atomic masses.
