During the Medieval, different kinds of literature were produced. Literature was written in various languages such as Sanskrit, Prakrit, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, etc.
Some of the religious writings from that period were Shishupalvadha by Magh which describes the killing of Shishupal by Sri Krishna, Naishadacharitra by Shriharsh which describes the story of Nal and Damyanti, and lyrical songs that were sung by Radha and other Gopis in the praise of Lord Krishna.
Literature pieces were also written in regard to the kings of that age. Some of them were Kumarpal Charita by Hemchandracharya which talks about the life of Kumarpal, the Solanki King of Gujarat, and Siddhem Shabdhanushashan’ which was a grammar book based on King Siddharaj Jaisinh and Hemchandracharya.
Some of the plays that were written at that time were ‘Uttarramcharita’ by Bhavbhuti and ‘Hitopdesh’by Pandit Narayana.
