Prokaryotes origin:

  1. Prokaryotes were said to be the first organisms to be evolved on Earth, predating eukaryotes has the fossil record of about one billion years.
  2. Prokaryotes appeared on earth about 3.5 billion years ago, the first prokaryotes were said to be heterotrophic bacteria. They are incapable of synthesizing their own food.
  3. The first organism was simple and were dependent on complex organic substances for their nutrition.

First prokaryotes:

  1. The first organisms that appeared on earth resembled single-celled life forms referred as archaea that can withstand extreme environments like hot springs and deep-sea vents.
  2. They were prokaryotic heterotrophs and used inorganic chemicals from the environment for carbon fixation and this process is referred as chemoautotrophy.
  3. They were anaerobic in nature as free oxygen was absent at that time on earth.
