Instructions:
This answer should include the impact of the martyrdom and any of the 3 points can be written.

Solution:

Guru Arjan Dev ji’s martyrdom transformed the nature and character of the Sikh religion.
  • Hargobind Singh felt the necessity of a political force to protect the Sikh religion. Thus, he began to wear two swords, Miri and Piri symbolising temporal and spiritual power, respectively.
  • The military strength of the Sikhs increased gradually. In 1606, Akal Takht was built in front of Sri Harmandir Sahib in 1606 for the above purpose.
  • The Mughal-Sikh relations worsened with the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev ji as even during the Shah Jahan, there were clashes between the two. During Aurangzeb’s time, Guru Teg Bahadur ji’s execution took place.
