  • The limitations of the present five kingdom classification are:-
1) The unicellular algae are kept in kingdom Protista while some algae which are multicellular organisms are kept in the kingdom Plantae.
  • Similar organisms are not put together.
2) A wide variety of diversity can be seen in the kingdom Protista.
  • Dissimilar organisms must not be kept in the same group.
3) All organisms other than Monerans shows that they are polyphyletic in origin (derived from more than one common evolutionary ancestor or ancestral group).
4) There is no place for viruses in five kingdom classification.
5) Similar organisms are kept far from each other.
  • For example, unicellular and multi cellular algae.
