Major beliefs and practices of the bhakti saints were:
They preached salvation comes with love and devotion to the almighty and supreme God.
They preached and worked for the removal of the social barriers created by caste, class and differences in the religion and also challenged orthodoxy.
They were against the dependence on outward symbols and absurd rituals.
Some of the principles taught by the Bhakti saints were: (i) Everyone is equal before God. (ii) It taught the devotion towards God by discarding rituals. (iii) They laid emphasis on Hindu-Muslim unity etc.
