  • New geo-political power alignment: After the end of World War II, the USA and Soviet Russia emerged ​ as the two superpower nations.​ The world got polarized with the USA following capitalist ideology and USSR following communist ideology. European nations were also divided into communists and non-communists.​
  • Nuclear Proliferation​: USA and the USSR began a competition to have more nuclear powered weapons. Britain and France also developed their own nuclear weapons. Countries began to spend a large number of resources on developing more and more destructive weapons.​
  • Formation of International Agencies​: International agencies like the ​ United Nations, World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund ​were established.​ These agencies provided a forum for ​ other countries.​
  • Decolonization: After the end of World War II, powerful countries were forced to decolonize countries. India was among the first country to gain independence from the powerful European countries.​
  • Women empowerment: The world after the war saw the rise of women participating in labour force in great numbers. There was a wind of social change in institutions such as marriage and family. More and more women became financially independent.​
