The ancient education system consisted of the Vedas, Brahmanas, Upanishads and Dharmasutras. The writings of Aryabhata, Panini, Katyayana and Patanjali along with the medical treatises of Charaka and Sushruta were some sources of learning. Sources of learning ranged from Itihas (history), Anviksiki (logic), Mimasa (interpretation), Shilpashastra (architecture), Arthashastra (polity), Varta (agriculture and trade), and Dhanurvidya (archery).
