The following are some of the measures taken by the Britishers to suppress the Indian nationalists:

1.They often used to arrest the national leaders to suppress the movements started by them.

2.When there was open revolt they used to open fire or beat the mob.

3.They made the participants of the movement rub their noses and crawl on the streets while saluting the British officials.

4. The Police suppressed the movement by doing ‘lathi charge’ or by firing at the group of protestors.
