What were the teachings of Sant Dnyaneshwar?
On the instructions of his Guru Shri Nivruttinath, more than seven centuries ago, Sant Dnyaneshwar wrote Dnyaneshwari. Sant Dnyaneshwar focused on teachings like finding spirituality within the soul. He forbade the followers from relying on scriptures and taught about the belief in one formless God. He forbade people from sensual pleasures, and drinking, lavishing lifestyle was discouraged and people were encouraged to lead a simple life and the main objective of life was to attain God. He was the leading Marathi saint, poet and Yogi who led the Bhakti Movement in Maharashtra.
