Solution

Instructions: The question is asking the students to list out solutions put into effect leading to a new world order at the end of the war. For this reason please use the formation of UNO and the Marshall Plan as two examples of keeping the peace.

Solution:At the end of the war, the major world powers wanted to avoid the mistakes of the previous war where harsh terms of the treaty of Versailles had led to unstable and dictatorial powers across Europe, leading to the 2nd world war. For this reason when the 2nd world war ended in 1946 the leaders of the victorious countries met and formed the Marshall Plan which was led by the American government.
  1. According to the Marshall plan instead of putting heavy war fines on the defeated countries, financial aid was granted to the countries under the Allied supervision in order to help them form more stable post war governments and help in financial recovery.
  2. The plan aimed at creating stable governments, leading the countries into economic prosperity and keeping away extreme ideologies.
  3. The formation of the United Nations Organisation was another step at creating a stronger global organisation capable of keeping the peace in stressful situations. The formation of UNO was the single most important consequence of the postwar world.
