Solution

The correct option is D

a = 1, b = 32, c = 12, d = 32

aFeCl3+bMgOcFe2O3+dMgCl2

Now, for iron we will equate the number of atoms on the reactant and product sides: a = 2c

Chlorine: 3a = 2d

Magnesium: b = d

Oxygen: b = 3c

Now we take a = 1 and put this in a = 2c which gives C = 12 and from 3a = 2d we will get D = 32 and from b = d we get b = 32

So, the balanced equation is:
FeCl3 + 32MgO 12Fe2O3 + 32MgCl2
