It is given that the spore of liverworts contains 20 chromosomes and 10 picogram DNA. As we know that spores are haploid in nature. The sporophyte is diploid in nature. Therefore, the chromosomes will be 40(2n) where n is number of chromosomes and the DNA will be 20 picogram. During the G2 phase, the amount of DNA remains the same and DNA doubles. After G2 phase, the chromosome will be 20 in number and DNA will be 40 picograms.
