Magnesium hydroxide is a base and it dissociates as follows in solution.
$M g (O H)_{2} (a q) ⇌ M g^{2 +} (a q) + 2 O H^{-} (a q)$
Since it releases 2 hydroxyl ions, it acidity is 2.
