For most efficient trapezoidal section

(i) B+2md=2d1+m2

B+2×1.5d=2d1+(1.5)2

B = 0.605d

(ii) R=d2

Area of flow, A = Bd + 1.5d2

=2.105d2

Q=1nAR2/3S1/2

10=10.020(2.105d2)(d2)2/3(5×104)1/2

d = 2.05 m

B=0.605×2.05=1.24m
