Solution

Methyl Orange: It is a synthetic acid-base indicator that turns red in acidic solutions and yellow in basic solutions.

When Methyl orange is added to a solution of Sodium carbonate(Na2CO3) it turns Yellow as:

  1. Sodium Carbonate solution is alkaline(basic) in nature.
  2. Methyl orange turns yellow in basic solutions.

Thus, the solution turns yellow.
