Question

What will be the molarity of a solution, which contains 5.85 g of NaCl(s) per 500 mL ?

(a) 4 mol L1 (b) 20 mol L1

(c) 0.2 mol L1 (d) 2 mol L1

Solution

Since, molarity (M) is calculated by following equation

Molarity=weight×1000molecular weight×volume(mL)

=5.85×100058.5×500=0.2 mol L1

Note Molarity of solution depends upon temperature because volume of a solution is temperature dependent.
