Question

What will be the new kinetic energy of a body if its velocity is doubled?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The answer by Sanskriti Srivastava was right but the the student didn't expressed it in terms of Kinetic energy.

K.E = 0.5 mv2 (1),

When the velocity of the body is doubled
K.E' = 0.5 m(2v)2 = 4 (0.5mv2) or

K.E' = 4K.E (2)

i.e., when the velocity of a body is doubled its kinetic energy increases by four times.
